About National QuAIL
National Quantum AI Laboratory (National QuAIL) is a national network dedicated to identifying near-term and long-term applications of quantum computing and quantum sensing.
It brings together experts in quantum mechanics, quantum computing, quantum sensing, artificial intelligence, computer science, mathematics, science, and engineering from academia, national labs, industry, and NGOs.
By breaking traditional disciplinary silos, QuAIL aims to address intractable scientific and engineering challenges through the orchestration of CPU-, GPU-, and QPU-based computing, as well as AI.
To democratize access to quantum computing, QuAIL will leverage AI to enable scientists and engineers without deep quantum expertise to discover and utilize quantum algorithms, optimize workflows, and advance quantum error correction and hybrid computing frameworks.
Vision
Empower quantum computing using AI.
Mission
With the overarching goal of addressing intractable scientific and engineering challenges through the coordinated use of CPUs, GPUs, QPUs, and AI, the National QuAIL’s mission is to achieve Q-U-A-I-L:- Quicken (Propel) quantum research with GPU-accelerated quantum simulation for identified applications beyond HPC reach;
- Untangle scalability, error-correction, and qubit readout hurdles across diverse quantum hardware;
- Accelerate democratization access to quantum computing via AI-enabled tools;
- Increase interdisciplinary collaboration among academia, national laboratories, industry, and NGOs; and
- Leapfrog workforce development and cultivate the next generation of quantum-enabled researchers and practitioners.
